Nakia is a well experienced Creative Director working in the field of Screenwriting, Visual Media, Brand Marketing, and Production. She enjoys working imaginatively with both global and local clients and creatives. Studying in places like Shanghai, Beijing, and Ghana, helped to cultivate her passion for human connection through storytelling and fueled her deep curiosity for the world at large.

 

Nakia has over 12+ years of experience concepting, developing, and executing narrative and commercial storytelling, product marketing, brand campaigns, and experiential events within several mediums from television, film, photography, radio, podcasting and tech.  

 

She leads creative teams with empathy, enthusiasm, and tenacity under the mantra that Storytelling is King, Imagination is Queen, and we are their Knights in shining armor.

THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON

(Live Musical Performance of "Paper Right")

As Creative Director of the live performance of the song "Paper Right" on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, I led and choreographed rehearsals with artists (Wyclef Jean, Pusha T, Lola Brooke and Capella Grey), ensuring seamless coordination and top-tier execution. I hired a stylist consultant to co-develop a comprehensive style guide for the performers. Collaborated with the Art directors to carefully select stage props and managed prop placement for day-of. I also worked with the Tonight Show director and audio department to coordinate performance elements and stage direction to make sure everything was in alignment with the song lyrics to create a cohesive and visually captivating performance.

Heaux & Tell Proof of Concept

As Creative Director, I hired and conceptualized this proof of concept marketing campaign with 10+ creatives (Photographers, Art Director, Costumer, Production Manager, Models, and Makeup Artists). I later worked directly with the graphic designer to facilitate the look and feel of the finalized art, making sure it aligned with the brand message of the show.  These assets were later used in a branding and pitch deck that aided our team receive a development deal for a digital series .

As Creative Director, I conceptualized each film poster and worked closely with the graphic designer to ensure the brand message aligned with the narrative of each film as well each projects marketing goals. These assets were used as advertising and marketing material for national Film festivals, screenings, and digital distribution .

As Screenwriter of the short film 'Endangered', I led a team of 50+ creatives through pre-production, production, and post production and ensured that we successfully integrated McDonald's product into the film. As Creative Director of the complimentary brand campaign for McDonald's 'Black & Positively Golden' initiative, I was tasked with the responsibility of conceptualizing, scripting, and curating visuals for a marketing commercial that aligned with the film 'Endangered' and brand campaign's mission.
